The four leads will give life to their characters once again as Wichita, Tallahassee, Columbus, and Little Rock. The movie sequel will start filming in early 2019 and it will be released in October of the same year, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
'Zombieland' original writers - Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also wrote other blockbuster films like the Deadpool 1 & 2. They expressed excitement about their new project and were actually the first to drop hints about the upcoming sequel.
Incidentally, when it first premiered on the big screen, 'Zombieland' was one of Rolling Stone's best movie picks in the zombie genre. It earned more than $100 million at the box office, over three times more than its production budget of just $24 million.

Commenting on the decision to recruit Emma, Abigail, Woody, and Jesse again for the film, Columbia Pictures president, Sanford Panitch, said in a statement, "These are some of the most in-demand actors, and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters."
He added that they are pleased to have the same director too, "We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work on Venom has been truly amazing."
