Marvel's "Black Panther" made waves when it came out; it showed how people can come together to win against adversity and show the world that they can win through sheer will.

The surprise box-office hit is about to get a sequel-on paper, literally. In the movie, T'Challa's sister, Shuri, made herself the star of the show with her brilliant mind. She took center stage as the brain trust of Wakandan technology, introducing the use of technology and innovative gadgets to make her people's life easier as well as that of the Black Panther-the current one being her brother.

According to ABS-CBN News, Shuri is finally becoming the center of attention and will get a spin-off comic book.

The story will see Shuri on a mission to figure out what's happening with the whole situation involving a missing T'Challa, the current Black Panther. Shuri will shoot off into space, even while she is expected to be the spiritual leader of Wakanda-the Black Panther, in a way-and expected to fill the void left by the disappearance of her big brother, T'Challa.

The new series, Hollywood Reporter shares, will simply be called "Shuri" after the main character. The comic book will be written by Nnedi Okorafor, award-winning author who also did "Black Panther: Long Live the King," a Marvel digital comic book. Leonardo Romero will do inking duties for the book.

The storyline runs around Shuri's genius-level intellect as well as her travels. She has also been to the past and saw Wakanda's future, and has gained a name among the many Black Panthers who existed before Wakanda gained a name. She is called "Ancient Future" and, according to Okorafor, this is what she loves about the character, among many others.

The series ties into the comic book series authored by Ta-Nehisi Coates. In the series, T'Challa flew off into space, investigating an intergalactic Empire of Wakanda. Shuri steps in to fill in the void left by her space-faring brother. Whether she is into it or not, Shuri is a monarch, and next in line to the throne-as well as the mantle of Black Panther.

Catch the series as it lands on digital and actual shelves in October.
