China's smartphone giant Huawei is on its way to ship 200 million handsets globally by the end of 2018, leaving behind the second largest mobile manufacturer: Samsung, in the race. This mark may even take the company within the reach of Apple in this competition.
Huawei's chief of the smartphone department: Richard Yu Chengdong shared this update and also said that the company has already reached the mark of shipping 100 million handsets by July 2018. He added: "Previously Huawei reached the 100 million shipments mark on December 22, 2015, October 14, 2016, and September 12, 2017. As it's only taken just over six months to reach the target this year, we are now aiming for shipments of 200 million units by the end of 2018,"
The company has shown some serious developments in terms of its sales in domestic and global markets throughout the last few months. While the leaders of the worldwide smartphone market: Apple and Samsung have seen declines in shipments by 2.4 percent and 2.8 percent respectively in the first quarter of this year. Huawei clinched the mark of 39.3 million handset shipments by the first three months of 2018 only, as reported by South China Morning Post.
Huawei, alongside its very own mobile brand: Honor, has been able to keep up the fastest pace of shipments throughout the major economies of the world. The company has also set its target to wave its winning flag of sales in Southeast Asian markets as well, majorly in India which is the second largest smartphone market in the world, after China.
How Huawei is winning the game over Samsung:
Huawei is majorly known for making budget phones. It has always kept its flagship smartphones within the range of middle-class people who are the major buyers of the handsets. In India, Huawei has been winning the hearts of the smartphone lovers with handsets like Huawei P20, Honor 7X, Honor 9 etc. The latest product in the lineup is Huawei Nova 3i, a pocket-friendly Android handset with the best in class features and design.
While on the other hand, Samsung has not been much innovation with its mobile technology over the last few years. It has majorly been stuck to its flagship lineup of Galaxy-branded handsets only. Moreover, the pricing factor has been a typical reason for its downfall in the Southeast Asian market. While major mobile manufacturers are offering the latest technology at a lesser price range, Samsung is keeping its aristocracy the same as before with the handsets' high price tags.
Huawei is planning to launch its next-gen Mate series flagship in the third quarter of 2018. The company is expected to see better sales growth with the upcoming handset as well.
