Most went with the idea that a more powerful variant could be next since the release of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 in July. Rumors flew on an alleged Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro, a model that many had speculated would be backed by a Snapdragon 710 chipset.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the company’s a mid-range device sporting 6.9-inch Full HD+ (2160x1080 pixels) display and powered by a Snapdragon 636, an Adreno 509 GPU, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage and a 5,500 mAh battery. It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
These were initially the base specs to gauge potential features that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro could have – if it existed. Aware that the rumor was getting out of hand, the Chinese mobile phone company finally set the records straight by announcing that there is no such device coming. They put everything to rest via social media website Weibo.
With questions surrounding the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro settled, most are now wondering what device they saw a couple of months ago that had a Snapdragon 710 SoC. The device was codenamed “Comet” and featured an OLED display plus other exciting features.
For those who are unaware, rumors about the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro started spreading when some information was spotted over at Qualcomm’s official website through GSM Arena. A Snapdragon 710 SoC coming would have made sense, especially for people who want a more powerful handset.
As far as mobile devices that sport a Snapdragon 710 processor, the only thing that comes close to it is the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. The device initially came out and codenamed as “Sirius,” the only other device from Xiaomi that runs on Snapdragon 710.
Rumors surrounding the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro remain in the air although most have tinkered on what could have transpired. Some say that the company may have worked on one but opted to drop it altogether. For others, it may not have existed at all.
Attention now shifts on the device codenamed “Comet.” With the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro existence finally put to rest, most can now consider checking out other devices available in the market.
