Those of you expecting the new Samsung Galaxy Watch to be more than a fitness-focused smartwatch is in for a big letdown. This smartwatch released yesterday (Aug. 9) puts fitness tracking first above all else.

But then there's the Galaxy Watch's LTE connectivity; several days of battery life on a single charge and military-grade durability. Plus this challenger to the Apple Watch is waterproof and can be worn while swimming, as you'd expect.

Two features stand out in Galaxy Watch: battery life, which can last up to four days depending on the watch size, and a rotating bezel that allows the wearer to control the watch without always using the touchscreen display.

The improved battery life of up to 80+1 hours eliminates the need for daily charging. The LTE connectivity is active across more than 30 carriers and more than 15 countries. It allows access across devices through messaging, calls, mapping, and music said Samsung.

The smartwatch's focus on fitness is apparent in its 39 different built-in exercises that allow users to customize and change their routines. Galaxy Watch also adds 21 new indoor exercises

It also comes with sleep tracking.  The new and advanced sleep tracker monitors all levels of sleep, including REM cycles. This data will help users adjust sleeping habits and get the rest they need.

Samsung Electronics said the Samsung Galaxy Watch brings with it the best of the Samsung's Galaxy ecosystem. The company praised the long-lasting battery life; LTE connectivity; wellness capabilities and a timeless and personalized design.

The company claims Galaxy Watch offers a lot more style options. These include three new watch faces in Silver, Midnight Black, and Rose Gold. There are also new customizable watchband colors.

Samsung has been quite good at providing consumers with a range of choice devices while maintaining product innovation, said DJ Koh, President, and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. Koh said Samsung is excited to continue the proud heritage of its Galaxy line with its wearables.

Koh said Galaxy Watch was designed with more efficient battery life and better wellness tracking to help users maintain their fitness goals. Galaxy Watch will be available in the U.S. on Aug. 24 at select carriers and retail locations. It will go on sale in Korea on Aug. 31 and in additional select markets on Sept. 4. It will be available to buy in the U.S. at a starting price of $330.
