One of the things that some gamers dread on NBA 2K19 is the MyCareer mode, the single-player career mode that normally takes time to progress. While it was previously about working an aspiring baller’s way to the top, Visual Concepts has altered the script a bit to help address the long wait which left most abandoning their journey.
For NBA 2K19, MyCareer mode will now tackle an arrogant player’s journey gone sour. Instead of fulfilling the dream of being selected and kicking off his professional career in the standard way, the player finds himself being left out of the NBA Draft.
Titled “The Way Back,” the created character is always named A.I. (something that immediately leads many to associate with Allen Iverson), who believes he is ready for the pro scene. However, his dreams suffer a major roadblock when he is looked over at the NBA draft, Polygon said.
Like most, A.I. finds himself looking for other ways to succeed in the basketball scene. His next best option is to take his talent to China. Although set in Shanghai, it does not feature any ties to the Chinese Basketball Association – a league that has housed and helped popular pros like Stephon Marbury and Michael Beasley back in the limelight.
Speaking of Beasley, he is one great example of how discarded NBA players were able to go to and from the CBA. After unleashing monstrous performances, 29-year-old was able to stay in shape and capture the eye of several NBA teams. Although it was not mentioned, it seems that this may be the altered script that Visual Concepts is trying to arrive at.
Tying that up to A.I., he gets that chance only that he first enters the minor league (NBA G-League), Gamers News Club said. Seeing how he technically never suited up for an NBA team, it is the best path to take for an aspiring basketball player even in real life. There are a number of players who have real-life stories of making it to the NBA via the G-League, such as Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat.
Visual Concepts has made it easier for players this year to progress in MyCareer although most will have to start at the Pro mode. Embarking on it at a more difficult one will result in extra rewards in the form of MyPoints and Virtual Currency.
Hence, NBA 2K19 players who want to see their player progress and have more skills can do it faster at harder levels. These are challenges set forth by game developers who have taken into account the multitude of MyPlayer complaints about the upcoming game installment.
