“Dota 2” will have new playable characters in Grimstroke and Mars. This was announced during The International with the former now already available for gamers to try out while the latter is set to be unleashed later this 2018.

Right now, seeing what Grimstroke brings for “Dota 2” players should be interesting. According to the game’s official website, the latest playable hero is skilled at manipulating battle, studying his opponent’s every move before making his move. This includes disabling his victims and swooping them with a swipe of his brush. As his name connotes, Grimstroke can dispatch multiple enemies after doing the right preliminary logistics before unleashing his wrath through a runebinding brush.

Here are some of the abilities of Grimstroke on “Dota 2:”

  • The Stroke of Fate is one of Grimstroke’s deadliest weapons. The brush paints a path of ink towards incoming enemies, slowing them down as damage is dealt increasingly with each strike.
  • Another weapon to watch out for is the Phantom’s Embrace. Ideal for players who want to unleash attacks from a distance, Grimstroke commands a phantom to latch on to his enemy to perform the necessary damage.
  • The Ink Swell is another interesting ability for Grimstroke. Each time he or an ally is covered in ink, bonus speeds and immunity are gained. Further, the ink damages enemies over a period of time before bursting, damaging and stunning in the area and based on the harm it has caused.
  • Also, the Soulbind is another ability that makes sure that an enemy hero is unable to move away. Unit-targeted spells that connect will affect both heroes. Should the bind be broken before expiring, the target will be bound again to the nearest allied hero within range.

Although Mars has yet to come out and be playable on “Dota 2,” a video has already sent off teasers on what to expect from the other new playable hero. Mars is the god of war in Roman mythology and this is likely to be the script followed for the hero on “Dota 2,” DBLTAP said.

The video shows Mars wielding a “Clipeus” or small circular shield along with a spear in hand. These alone hints at Mars being a melee hero which should delight players who love face-to-face skirmishes.

But aside from that, Mars is also likely to be equipped with a summoning power. In the video, it was revealed how he can summon a group of silhouette soldiers who can come in the form of anything from animated suits of armor to raised dead.

The new characters should be something to look forward to, tailored accordingly to players who love melees or combat from afar. For now, Grimstroke is in focus with Mars crowding the scene in the winter.
