Windows 10 has brought in a wide array of features to ease the transition between PC workstations and mobile devices. And now, the new Windows 10 Insider Preview could expand those possibilities by adding some more SMS-related features.

Microsoft announced a new upcoming feature which should aid folks who are looking for better ways to view, send and receive their SMS messages from their Android devices using standard workstations. It is the latest feature to be added following previous ones that included users to continue their web browsing, manage their e-mails and use apps from their mobile phones.

The new Windows 10 build feature will allow mobile phone users to key in their messages using a keyboard or pen-capable devices. Better yet, there is also a speech-to-text option that folks can use by simply pressing the Windows logo and H keys according to the Microsoft Blog.

The new feature should be welcome improvements, particularly for the visually impaired and the ones who have a hard time interfacing using their mobile devices. However, there are certain requirements that need to be satisfied. The most important of it all is that the phones will need to have at least Android 7.0 Nougat to enjoy the added features.

Folks who plan to link up their phones to their PC can do so through the Your Phone app. Phone owners will be prompted to download an app from Microsoft after which users need to follow the setup prompts. Take note that PCs in the China region may not yet enjoy the feature although the Your Phone app will be enabled in the future, ONMSFT said.

Aside from that, there are other fixes included on the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17755. This includes:

  1. The build watermark at the lower right-hand corner will no longer be seen.
  2. The slow resume from hibernation problem on select devices has been resolved.
  3. HDR video clippings have been resolved.
  4. Improved Windows Hello interface which previously spent more time in “Getting Ready”.

The release of Windows 10 Insider Preview build 17755 came barely days after build 17554 was released. The previous build didn’t bring in new front-face features, largely because these are at the tail-end of the Redstone 5 development cycle, Neowin said.

With the Windows 10 October 2018 update expected to come out next month. Folks who are on the Fast Ring can get the build by going to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update > Check for updates. Alternatively, users can also go to the Windows Insider Program tab and click Get started.
