The new battle royal-style mode from "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" called Blackout will be tested by the avid players this week. They will have the very first opportunity to try it this week, thanks to private beta session Activision that hosted on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. Aside from the beta's launch, the publisher also shared some new details about the mode.

According to GameSpot, a map was revealed, kinds of items and vehicles encountered as one fight to be the last team remaining or last player, and lastly, a selection of playable characters. It was previously confirmed that Blackout beta is set to support over 80 players. This is about 20 players lesser than Fortnite and PUBG, which are known for helping popularize the battle royal genre, support.

As previously confirmed, the Blackout beta will support up to 80 players--20 players fewer than Fortnite and PUBG, the two games that helped popularize the battle royale genre, support. However, developer Treyarch says the final player count is still subject to change and may be tweaked before launch based on the feedback it receives from players during the beta session.

Moreover, Blackout beta allows solo, duos, or quads, also known as four-player teams. The game drops players on an island, which is approximately 1500 times larger than a classic Nuketown map. The participants start each match by gliding down to the Island using a wingsuit. This scenario happens in a typical battle royal fashion once people land. Also, they need to scrounge for weapons and tools as the battle arena gradually shrinks in size.

Blackout features playable characters taken from the series history of Black Ops. These include Reznov, Woods, Mason, Richtofen, Ajax, Takeo, Seraph, Ajax, Battery and many more. The island likewise has several areas based on the previous Black Ops maps, such as the abovementioned Nuketown, Hydro, Firing Range, and more. While they have to contend with other players, several areas of the map feature hordes of zombies as well. This is to make each match challenging and unpredictable.

One can find and wield an assortment of classic Black Ops weapons and equipment. Few examples are Cordite, Vapr-XKG, and MOG-12. Special weapons like Annihilator pistol and War Machine Grenade Launcher will spawn on the map too. Meanwhile, the players are also able to pilot various sea, land, and air vehicles.

Furthermore, the private Blackout beta will first be launched on PS4 this Sept. 10 and Sept. 14 on Xbox One. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will arrive on Oct. 12 for PS4, PC, and PS4.
