Jamie Dornan is best known for his role in films "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "The Fall." Now, the Hollywood actor is set to appear in a new sci-fi thriller titled "Synchronic."
The Down-born actor will star alongside "Captain America: Civil War's" very own Anthony Mackie in the film. The latter is courtesy of frequent collaborators named Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Both are also expected to co-direct from a script written by the former.
Dornan and Mackie will be playing two paramedics who hail from New Orleans. Their lives are suddenly ripped apart following a series of tarrying deaths all linked to a drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects, RTE reports.
Mackie will next be seen in The Hate U Give and a remake of Miss Bala. Dornan's next projects include My Dinner With Herve and A Private War.
Benson and Moorhead directed horror films "Resolution" (2012) and "Spring" (2015), as well as last year's critically acclaimed supernatural motion picture "The Endless," in which the two also starred.
The filmmakers said in a statement of their new project: "Being huge fans of the nuanced, brilliant work of Anthony and Jamie, this is a filmmaker's wildest dream come true."
Essentially, this marks the fourth low-budget sci-fi film from the two well-known filmmakers following the aforementioned movies they made together. Interestingly, all three installments received excellent reviews from critics and moviegoers alike.
Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films was quoted saying, "This is the fourth collaboration between XYZ and these phenomenal filmmakers. Their body of work thus far speaks to their confidence to go against the norm and tell genuine stories that cross-genre. We're honored to work with them again to bring Synchronic to audiences around the world."
Mackie's upcoming projects include "The Hate U Give," which is loosely based on the novel by Angie Thomas, and season two of Netflix's "Altered Carbon" in which he will play the leading role, ComingSoon reports.
Dornan, on the other hand, will next be seen opposite Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx in Robin Hood, hitting theaters on November 21, 2018.
Unlike Dornan, Mackie has been a household name following his charismatic turn in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," though he was already making an impression long before that. Early performances included small roles in "8 Mile" and "Half Nelson," but it was Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker that made the audience pay attention to him.
As for Dornan, he made his debut in Sofia Coppola's underrated "Marie Antoinette," as the dashing Count Axel Fersen. In which he set himself up as the perfect choice for the titular role in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
