On October 10, Selena Gomez checked into the rehab as she needs mental treatment after suffering an emotional breakdown. However, there are few people who didn't reach out to her, particularly her ex, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye. Meanwhile, Justine Bieber's engagement with Hailey Baldwin is said to be one of the contributing factors why Gomez had a breakdown.
"Abel has not reached out to Selena, or her family, and he has no intentions of doing so right now," a source said to HollywoodLife. But, he still cares for his ex-girlfriend. However, he doesn't want to make additional issues that may cause harm to Gomez.
The Weeknd thinks Gomez has a lot of loving support network, so she's not dealing on her own. The insider also added he might reach out to her via email as soon as she's done with her treatment and when she regained her emotional well-being.
For now, the insider further revealed, The Weeknd will distance himself from his ex. He believes it's the nicest and wisest thing to do as it's all about Gomez now, and not him.
Gomez had an emotional breakdown on October 10 during her visit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. After her "meltdown," the singer checked into an East Coast mental health facility. Gomez will reportedly have a dialectical behavior therapy and will join wellness program - including meditation, life coaching, fitness and spa treatments, nutrition coaching, and art therapy.
Meanwhile, another Gomez's ex, Justin Bieber, is said to be one of the factors why she had an emotional breakdown, particularly his engagement with Hailey Baldwin. The relationship of Gomez and Bieber had been a rollercoaster since 2011 until earlier of this year, and before he announced his engagement with Baldwin back in July - which "undoubtedly have an effect on her," a source said.
"Selena has had a lot on her plate - too much," the insider continued and added Bieber's engagement would have affected her.
But aside from this, Gomez's major medical condition with Lupus is also a contributing factor to her recent breakdown. In 2014, Gomez's first treatment was at Arizona's Dawn at the Meadows facility, and then in 2016, she checked into a facility in Tennessee.
Gomez has been very open about her struggles on her mental health and she talked about it to the public. In her recent interview with Vogue, she said, "I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we're taught to be almost too resilient . . . We also need to feel allowed to fall apart."
