Lee Jong Suk surprised everyone when he revealed that he, along with his staff members, got detained in Jakarta on November 4 after a fan meeting. The 29-year-old star's agency, A-Man Project, released an official statement and cleared all the speculations that surrounded its artist's detainment.
"I was able to end the fan meeting with a thankful heart," Lee Jong Suk said in a post on Instagram on November 5. "But all of my staff and I are stuck in Jakarta. I think we've been detained since yesterday."
Before his fans went berserk, Lee Jong Suk explained that their promoter, Yes24, reported they had lower profits from the fan meeting to the local tax authorities than what they made. The South Korean model then cleared that not anyone from them was involved in the issue, but the airport personnel took all of their passports. He then called out Yes24 and its agencies, The Cre8tive Lab and Yumetomo, to resolve the problem.
A source from A-Man Project confirmed that Lee Jong Suk and his staff indeed got detained in Jakarta. "They were originally supposed to leave Jakarta on November 4," the insider said, via Soompi. "However, a problem arose between the local yes24 branch and the Indonesian authorities."
The tipster continued to say that A-Man Project did its best to return Lee Jong Suk in Korea. It adjusted his schedule as he was also about to face issues on the filming of his new drama and other projects.
According to Koreaboo, Lee Jong Suk safely arrived in Seoul on November 6. A-Man Project cleared in an official statement that neither the "While You Were Sleeping" star nor was the agency at fault with the problem.
A-Man Project explained that Yes24 issued performances visa to Lee Jong Suk and his 11 staff members. When they arrived in Jakarta on November 2, they directly attended the fan meeting. When they were about to leave the country on November 4, Yes24 Indonesia's manager, who held all their passports, went missing.
The agency then learned on November 5 that local Indonesian tax authorities took Lee Jong Suk and his staff members' passport. The issue had something to do with the not-properly reported profits from the fan meeting ticket sales. So to resolve the issue, they had to pay penalties. Also, there was a problem with the visa's issuance. Thus, the immigration office set them on a temporary to leave the country.
