Game of Thrones Season 8 actor Hafthor Bjornsson teased what little he could about the show's final installment in a recent interview. He admitted that filming for this season's episodes had been the most challenging.

Bjornsson himself is excited to see the HBO hit series return to TV screens in April 2019. As a fan of the show himself, the actor expressed his excitement to see what the casts have in store for the viewers. However, he was cautious about his statements and did not reveal any details that could spoil the show.

"I myself am super-excited to see the season. I've never been this excited before. "

Bjornsson, who plays Gregor Clegane aka The Mountain in Game of Thrones Season 8, teased what his character had to deal with in the final season. He admitted that this "was the hardest season" he has ever done.

The 30-year old, who rose to fame after he was cast in Game of Thrones Season 4, did not go into spoiler territory. He did admit though that filming for Game of Thrones Season 8 was the "most difficult" for him, both mentally and physically.

There can only be one simple reason why filming the final season was physically draining for someone known as the "World's Strongest Man." The anticipated battle with the Night King and his army of White Walkers is not something that can be shot in a day. According to previous reports, it took 55 nights to film the outdoor battle scenes alone while the rest happened in the studio.

However, The Mountain was in Kings Landing the last time fans saw him in the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. He stood silently by Cersei Lannister's (Lena Headey) side as she threw threats at her brother Jaimie. He did not attempt to travel with Jaimie to Winterfell to join the battle against the undead.

Perhaps, Bjornsson is referring to the speculated fight between Cersei and Daenerys' (Emilia Clarke) army in Game of Thrones Season 8. The teaser trailer for the final season fueled this theory with the image of the Golden Lion figurine, which represents the House Lannister, engulfed in fire, with the latter easily resembling Daenerys' dragons.

Then again, there is also the much-awaited Cleganebowl, the throwdown between The Mountain and his brother the Hound. Fans are hoping that this happens in Game of Thrones Season 8, although Bjornsson declined to comment any further on this in an interview with Uproxx.
