If you haven't heard, "John Wick" star Keanu Reeves is part of Disney's highly anticipated "Toy Story 4." But while the studio has kept his casting under a mysterious cloud, the actor has finally confirmed how he got the unexpected gig.
Reeves told Collider that he got a call from the people behind the successful animated movie. He was pitched the idea behind his still-undisclosed character, and he got to sit together with the Pixar and Disney people to flesh out the part he's going to play.
Reeves also confirmed that he went to four recording sessions for Disney and was allowed to riff his lines. Last November, "Toy Story" star Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) surprised everyone when he disclosed that Reeves was part of the new installment. However, the comedian also hinted that Reeves' toy character was just a little piece, which had fans guessing that he could be playing one of the G.I. Joe toys.
But Reeves' voice was not part of the first official "Toy Story 4" teaser. It did give a hint of a new character in Forky, who seemed to be having an existential crisis. Tony Hale has been confirmed as the voice of Forky.
Meanwhile, fans are anticipating the return of Bo Peep (Annie Potts) in "Toy Story 4." She was last seen in "Toy Story 2," which hinted of her romantic potential with Woody (Tom Hanks). However, this storyline was never tackled in "Toy Story 3," and Bo Peep did not even make an appearance in the third film.
One of the Pixar's Christmas card for 2018 features Bo Peep with Woody, as an entertainment journalist showed on Twitter. Fans speculate that the character will finally reappear in the latest film, especially after Allen also confirmed that missing familiar faces will be back in "Toy Story 4."
But Potts did say in April that she has recorded as Bo Peep for "Toy Story 4." Her character's storyline was expanded into a big part that she even had recording sessions with Hanks. The upcoming film will include a search for Bo Peep, and it will answer why she was missing from the third movie.
Originally set for a 2017 release, "Toy Story 4" will be in theaters on June 21, 2019. Aside from Reeves, Allen, Hanks, Potts, and Hale, the movie will also feature the voices of Joan Cusack, John Ratzenberger, Patricia Arquette, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jordan Peele.
