Fans are about to see Jung Yu Mi on the small and big screen in the coming year. The 35-year-old star is about to do a Netflix K-drama and a movie opposite Gong Yoo. Both projects are based on novels.

Netflix will be doing a new K-drama based on Jung Sae Rang's "Health Education Instructor Ahn Eun Young" (literal translation). It is a fictional novel about Ahn Eun Young (Jung Yu Mi), a health education instructor, who can see ghosts, per AllKpop.

With her ability, Ahn Eun Young will solve the mysteries happening at her new school. Here, fans will see Jung Yu Mi's unique and comedic side by using toy a sword, bb gun, and more as her weapons. The new Netflix drama will be produced by "The Truth Beneath" and "Crush and Blush" director Lee Kyung Mi. Jung Sae Rang, on the other hand, plans to be actively involved in writing the script.

Jung Yu Mi will also be seen opposite Gong Yoo in the movie adaptation of Cho Nam Joo's feminist novel "Kim Ji Young, Born 1982." According to the South China Morning Post, the film will stick to the book's controversial tale that divided Korea's patriarchal society because of its bold depiction of sexism.

"Kim Ji Young, Born 1982," tells the story of Kim Ji Young (Jung Yu Mi), a woman in her 30s who suffered sexual harassment and misogyny all her life. These incidents made her show abnormal behavior and rebellion that worried her family. They started to think she has psychological issues or experiencing supernatural events.

Upon playing the role, Jung Yu Mi will show how a woman who suffers daily injustices will deal with it with grace and dignity, "until something happens." Alternatively, Gong Yoo will portray the character of Jung Dae Hyun, Kim's conflicted husband.

"Kim Ji Young, Born 1982" will be the third time Jung Yu Mi and Gong You will work together on a big screen. Previously, they have been together on "Silenced" (2011) and "Train to Busan" (2016).  They were recently rumored to be dating, but both denied it.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility that Jung Yu Mi's upcoming movie, "Kim Ji Young, Born 1982," will be a box-office hit based on the book's one million sales. However, its feminist theme and "forward-thinking message" didn't go well with conservatives. So, fans will have to wait and see how people will accept this film when it hit the big screen in 2019.
