Game of Thrones Season 8 stars Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington talked about their respective character's budding romance in the series. The actors revealed what they think could ruin Jon Snow and Daenerys' romance.

Fans had seen it coming. Those meaningful and surreptitious glances Jon Snow and Daenerys shared would eventually lead them together in bed, which is exactly what happened in the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. Both had developed feelings for each other in the course of the series and whatever outcome their relationship has is something fans look forward to when the show returns on TV screens.

However, ahead of the series' comeback, Clarke and Harington already know that their characters' relationship would not last long. It is doomed to begin with. The stars revealed that Jon Snow's lineage has the potential to break them apart.

Speaking of Jon's family, the Season 7 finale of the HBO series revealed that Jon is not at all the bastard son of Eddard Stark. Instead, he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. He is next in line since he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. This makes him Daenerys' nephew. Only Sam Tarly and Bran Stark know about this for now.

Finding out about Jon's parentage would be a big hurdle to the Mother of Dragons' quest to avenge her brother's death and take back the Iron Throne. When this knowledge reaches Jon Snow and Daenerys then their romance is bound to suffer, Clarke said.

"She truly loves Jon. Were she to find out about his title, it would cut deep."

Harington added that when Jon eventually finds out who his real parents are in Game of Thrones Season 8, then he would not hesitate to share this information with his new love right away. The actor likewise said that it would indeed be a big blow for Jon when he finds out that Daenerys is his aunt.

"Jon is someone who plays by the book. He cannot lie."

Moreover, Tyrion knows that Jon Snow and Daenerys' romance is never going to work. Peter Dinklage, who plays the character, said that Tyrion believes romance and politics do not mix. There are bound to be dire consequences in Game of Thrones Season 8 after Jon and Dany consummated their feelings for each other. Whatever these are is something that fans will have to look forward to when the show returns in April 2019.
