Fans are so caught up with what has been happening in Game of Thrones that they even found a way to determine who lives and dies in the coming season. A study into the characters' survival reveals that Cersei Lannister lives in Game of Thrones Season 8.

Researchers at Macquarie University, Australia, evaluated the deaths of the important characters in the show to determine their chance of survival in Season 8. Their findings, which is published in the journal Injury Epidemiology and titled, "'Death is certain, the time is not': mortality and survival in Game of Thrones," accounts all the deaths across seven seasons of the show, which amounts to 67 episodes.

The study used the socio-demographic status of 330 characters, which includes their sex, type of job, religion, social status, and house allegiance, and compared it with their survival time and death. The collected data were then cross-checked with the show's Internet database.

The findings showed that there had been 186 deaths in the course of the first seven seasons. The results also showed that characters who are likely to survive are those who are female and those who changed allegiances. Likewise, those who are highborn, such as Lords and Ladies, or Kings and Queens, are likely to live than lowborn.

This brings Cersei's fate in Game of Thrones Season 8 into question. Since she is of noble blood and a serial turncoat, then she has a high chance of surviving whatever happens in the final season. The study contradicts speculations that Cersei dies along with the fall of Kings Landing.

The study likewise dispels the prophecy about Cersei's death. In Season 1, Maggy the frog told a young Cersei that she would die in the hands of a "Valonqar," which means "little brother/sibling" in Valyrian tongue. There have been several theories pointing to either Jaimie or Tyrion as the "Valonqar," since after all, they are her younger brothers.

Speaking of Tyrion, he is also likely going to survive per the study, since he has since switched allegiance after turning his back on his family. He now serves Daenerys as her "Hand."

As for the remaining characters, the study revealed that those who have less screen time are likely to live than those who were featured more prominently. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) only briefly appeared in Season 7, which gives her a high chance of survival in Game of Thrones Season 8.
