BTOB's Minhyuk is about to enlist in the military, but he will leave his fans with a new album. There are multiple reports that said the 28-year-old star is about to release his new LP this month.
A source revealed, via K-Pop Herald, that Minhyuk is set to release a first solo studio album on January 15. He previously unveiled "Purple Rain" in 2017 as a solo project for BTOB.
Minhyuk's upcoming solo album will serve as his last LP before he serves the military. To properly bid his goodbye to his fans, the BTOB member puts much effort and time to finish this project. He even produced and wrote the songs on his own.
Minhyuk is reportedly enlisting as a conscripted police officer in the first quarter of the year. His agency, Cube Entertainment, has yet to announce the exact date of his enlistment. He will be the third from BTOB's members to enlist after Seo Eun-Kwang in August and Lee Chang-Sub, who will begin his service on January 14.
Talking about Minhyuk, the rapper has been in a big controversy recently because of his father's alleged debt. Cube Entertainment released an official statement about the issue to clear its talent's name.
"Minhyuk only learned of this matter after seeing the news reports on December 20," Cube Entertainment said, per AllKpop. "As of December 21, Minhyuk has paid off the entire debt amount owed by his father in his father's place, and he has resolved all issues with the victim of the incident through proper settlement."
Minhyuk's father has been accused of borrowing money worth of 100 million KRW or about $88,700 from an acquaintance, named Mr. Lim, in August 2008. Allegedly, the patriarch had to pay a "contract fee for a new home."
The father paid Mr. Lim 50 million KRW. But after a while, Minhyuk's dad cut all his contacts with Mr. Kim, although they side a memorandum of payment.
Mr. Lim showed proofs that there was a signed memorandum of payment between the two parties. In the contract, Minhyuk's father had to pay the remaining 50 million KRW to Mr. Lim by March 2010.
However, Mr. Lim claimed Minhyuk's father avoided him until 2016. He began paying him again starting last year in "increments of 10 million KRW." But, he has cut off contact again since September 2018. At the time, Cube Entertainment promised to release a statement to clear all the issues.
