Dolph Ziggler has had his share of ups and downs in the WWE. For some time now, the former champion has not been given a push compared to other stars on both Raw and Smackdown. He did appear recently on WWE Raw but lost in a cage match to Drew McIntyre – one star who has been rumored to be getting a push soon.
But the real focus here is Ziggler. There is growing speculation that the “Showoff” is on his way out of the WWE and several breadcrumbs have cropped up to support that claim. That includes a potential shift in showbiz, something he put up on his Twitter account, Nic Nemeth.
It hardly comes as a surprise to see WWE stars enter the world of showbiz. Several stars have made that jump. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has done it, same with John Cena. Ziggler is no exception as well, having appeared on the big screen. He has already appeared in several films such as “Me Him Her” (2015), Countdown (2016) and “The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania” (2017) where he starred as himself.
Sportskeeda points out that WWE stars only start using their name when they intend to move on from the company. The reason behind this is that the WWE holds trademarks for their on-screen name so that individuals cannot use their identities outside the WWE circle.
All this should be taken with a grain of salt since that last performance of Ziggler could mean a lot of things. While some perceive it as an exit, it could also be applicable only to the individual as far as his personality is concerned. He could be re-introduced using another character or persona – something that will work for the WWE since it means additional merchandise they can sell via their online store.
While most are wondering what lies ahead for Ziggler, it seems that McIntyre’s last match will kick off the push most have been waiting for. Back in December, Forbes suggested that the WWE is scaling back on pushes on Mcintyre and Seth Rollins. Those claims could be reversed, especially with the company needing a new star to rise from the locker room.
The answer to all of that should happen at the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble. McIntyre, along with Rollins has been installed as favorites to win it all. And from there, WWE fans know that whoever wins the battle royale are most likely to be at the Wrestlemania main event. Will McIntyre be that guy?
