There will be more deaths and some surprises when "Killing Eve" returns for season 2. The spy series starring Sandra Oh, as MI5 agent Eve Polastri, and Jodie Comer, as the assassin Villanelle, will be returning to television this April.

Producers Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris told the press at the BAFTA Los Angeles party just before the Golden Globes about what viewers may expect for "Killing Eve" season 2. They hinted that Villanelle would be a lot darker and fearsome this season, so more people will end up dead because of her.

The producers also teased that Villanelle may not be even aware of her increasingly deadly capabilities. There will be some surprises that will bring a shift to "Killing Eve" season 2.

But Comer also shared to Elle magazine that the fate of her character and Oh's Eve will be more connected than last season. The first episode back will open mere seconds after season 1 left off, with Eve stabbing Villanelle so viewers will finally get to see that incident's outcome and the assassin's response and reaction to what Eve has done.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge created and developed "Killing Eve" for BBC America based on the novella "Codename Villanelle" that Luke Jennings wrote. The show features strong women characters, both on the good and bad side of the law, who are equally played by very convincing actresses like Oh and Comer.

Oh won the Best Actress plum at last Sunday's Golden Globe Awards for her role as the MI5 agent on "Killing Eve." Waller-Bridge told Variety that she wanted a versatile actress who could do both drama and comedy without any problems, so she set her sights on the Korean-American star even though Eve in the source material was written as a Caucasian character.

Meanwhile, it's not just Eve who will be tracking down Villanelle in "Killing Eve" season 2. There will be both good and evil people looking for the assassin but Eve has to make sure she's the first to find Villanelle so she can protect her against her enemies but also put her behind bars where she belongs.

The second season will also have new additions in the cast, such as Nina Sosanya and Edward Bluemel. Shannon Tarbet, Julian Barratt, and Henry Lloyd Hughes are also expected to be in some of the episodes.

"Killing Eve" season 2 will premiere on Sunday, April 7, at 8:00 p.m. on BBC America. The show will also air on AMC.
