Jim Carrey threw in a promotional line for his new movie Sonic the Hedgehog at the recent Golden Globe Awards. The actor name-dropped the film when the hosts kicked him out.
Carrey is no stranger to comedy having appeared in several blockbuster comedy films in the 1990s. He is a pro when it comes to tickling your funny bone as he has done so in the past years in successful films like Liar Liar and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
It is no surprise then that the Canadian actor would use his comedic chops during a comical skit at the 2019 Golden Globes. This time though he made use of the occasion by promoting his 2019 film Sonic the Hedgehog. Carrey hilariously mentioned the movie when hosts Sandra Oh and Adam Sandberg called his attention for being in the wrong section. The hosts asked him to leave the movie section since he has not done any for 2018 and told him to move to the TV artist's section.
Carrey looked surprised and at first unwilling to move. He reasoned that he did a film for a movie in 2018 and that it comes out in 2019.
"I just finished a film, it's called Sonic the Hedgehog, comes out in November!"
The hosts insisted and politely asked him to leave while security personnel waited to usher him out. Carrey stood up and brought his dinner plate with him since he did not "want to leave any of my DNA on the film section." Check out the funny interaction from the video below that has now made the rounds online.

Carrey practically jumpstarted the promotional campaign for the Sonic the Hedgehog film at the Golden Globes. Details about the film have been scarce so far with only a few promotional posters released. A trailer has even yet to come out.
Regardless, the 56-years-old Carrey seemed psyche to be a part of the film. The actor voices the villain Dr. Ivo Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog, which is based on the SEGA Genesis' video game of the same name. The film follows the titular character (Ben Schwartz) as he and small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski (James Marsden), embark on a road trip to San Francisco to recover the blue hedgehog's rings before Dr. Robotnik. Other voice casts include as Lee Majdoub, Neal McDonough, Tika Sumpter, and Frank C. Turner, to name a few. The film comes out on Nov. 8, 2019.
