Game enthusiasts have been waiting for the release of "The Last of Us 2" since its first unveiling in 2013. There are a lot of predictions surrounding the game's release, but a certain tweet from a well-known name industry reveals it will be out this year.
Former IGN editor Alanah Pearce, who is now with Rooster Teeth, confirmed in a now-deleted tweet that "The Last of Us 2" would be out this year. But knowing how the internet works, a screenshot was saved, via Comicbook.
Pearce responded on Twitter with a short, "TLOU2 100% has." It was later followed by a lengthy explanation about the alleged "The Last of Us 2" release. "So I have been told multiple times by multiple people," she said. "Not like things can't change, or it's set in stone if it hasn't been publicly announced though."
It is not the first time that someone leaked "The Last of Us" Season 2's alleged release date. To recall, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker predicted the same thing at the PSX 2017. Two years have passed; the game's release is still up in the air. Pearce even played it safe by saying that her claims could change.
It has been almost six years since Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment dropped "The Last of Us." The game followed Joel and the young girl, Ellie, he needed to save in the midst of the post-apocalyptic United States filled with infected creatures. For its outstanding gameplay, it received some positive reviews and awards, including the Best Game at the 2014 BAFTA Game Awards. So, "The Last of Us 2" is very much anticipated.
"The Last of Us 2" has been announced along with a new gameplay trailer. However, Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment remain mum about its other plot details. According to ScreenRant, it is highly possible that there will be a lot of promotions and advertisings for the game this year.
"The Last of Us 2" is said to make a major time jump. It will take place five years after the original game's events. Here, players will see a grown-up Ellie, and she will be now the title's main character.
Aside from Ellie, there are rumors that there will be another playable character in "The Last of Us 2." There are also reports that it might be inspired by the Netflix original series "The End of the F****** World." Fans still have to take these assumptions with a grain of salt, and wait for Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment's official announcement about the game's official gameplay and release date.
