"Lucifer" is set to begin a shorter but bolder fourth season in its new home. The streaming platform Netflix has brought the series back from the dead after FOX canceled the program in May 2018.
But fans have been waiting to find out when Netflix will launch the series since production wrapped up in December last year. The wait won't be too long anymore as star Aimee Garcia hinted "Lucifer" season 4 could start by April or May on the streaming platform.
Garcia shared the date of "Lucifer" season 4's potential launch while answering a fan's question on Twitter. However, the actress, who plays the forensic cop Ella Lopez in the show, clarified that she was only making a guess just like the rest of the show's avid fans.
The actress also shared that she has seen a sneak peek of the episodes after it went through the editing room. Like the fans, Garcia is also just as excited and eager for "Lucifer" season 4 to finally get the airtime.
To prepare for the launch of "Lucifer" season 4, Netflix has started streaming seasons 1 to 3 since mid-December. Now that the show has moved from FOX to the streaming platform, "Lucifer" will become a Netflix original series. According to co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich, "Lucifer" was one of Netflix's most popular shows for December, along with the confirmed hit "Bodyguard."
Expectedly, there will be 10 episodes to the new season. But while it's only half the number of the usual episode count for "Lucifer," the stars said the stories for the upcoming installment would be more interesting because the show is no longer bounded by broadcast censors.
In the meantime, fans might expect the first teaser of "Lucifer" season 4 to be hitting online by February, or around Valentine's Day. According to Carter Matt, while the show isn't a romantic series, debuting the first teaser of the season on this special date might generate the attention it deserves.
If "Lucifer" season 4 does arrive on the streaming platform sometime in April, it might be possible Netflix will deliver all 10 episodes on April 19. The date happens to be Good Friday, which goes in line with the show's Biblical leanings.
Meanwhile, there will be a "Lucifer" fan convention in Los Angeles from August 17-18. Confirmed to attend so far are Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Lesley Ann-Brandt (Mazikeen), Kevin Alejandro (Dan Espinoza) and D.B. Woodside (Amenadiel).
