Netflix released the first installment in December 2016 with all eight episodes of season one available to stream at once. It came off as a surprise as there was barely any promotion for the show. Netflix confirmed "The OA" Season 2 is happening, but the release date hasn't been announced yet. While it's uncertain when will it come out, many fans are anticipating what will happen to the show in the second season.
The supernatural mystery series follows the story of Prairie Johnson (played by Brit Marling, who's also the creator of the show), a young woman who had been missing and returned home after a 7-year disappearance. But, her return is not the only thing that's miraculous, as she was blind when she disappeared and somehow gained her ability to see when she came back.
Netflix has already released the teaser trailer for the second season in February 2017. Unfortunately, the teaser didn't show what will happen on "The OA" Season 2 as it only features a cloud of smoke and a voiceover from Prairie. She's repeating Homer's name over and over again, so there's probably an unfinished business between them, and it will continue on the second season.
Fans expectation about the upcoming season is high as the series had ended for over two years now. The filming of the show reportedly started in January 2018, and the shooting was reportedly over in May. Reports suggest that the second season will be out sometime this 2019. Still, the release date remains uncertain for now.
As for the cast, a lot of "The OA" actors confirmed they would be returning on the series. Of course, Marling will be back as Prairie, while Jason Isaacs will also return as Dr. Hunter 'Hap' Percy. He announced via Twitter back in May 2018 he had finished filming his part for season two.
Homer (Emory Cohen), Elias Rahim (Riz Ahmed), Jesse (Brendan Meyer), Steve Winchell (Patrick Gibson) will likely return on the second season as well. The rest of "The OA" Season 2 casts has yet to be confirmed, but it was reported the 25-year-old actress Bria Vinaite would be an additional cast for the second season.
Meanwhile, a Reddit user - who's also a fan of The OA - shared theory suggesting Hap will be going blind on the second season. Isaacs seemed to support the fan's theory, he posted on Twitter back in March 2018: "I had a dream last night in which I lost my reading glasses. Tragic on so many levels."
