Is Jon Snow going to die in the final season of "Game of Thrones"? Fans fear the worst about the beloved character of the HBO TV series as the show sets its return for its eighth and final season in April.
But it may have been actor Kit Harington himself who gave the clue about the fate of his character. During an interview on the radio program "The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show," Harington excitedly shared the keepsake he has taken from the show, now that filming in Ireland is officially over.
Harington admitted that he kept the statue of Jon Snow's likeness that's supposed to be in the crypt or tomb, as seen in the "Game of Thrones" teaser. Right now, that statue is stored inside Harington's shed at home.
Apparently, Harington is the only actor who kept his own statue and joked that he's quite narcissistic about playing the character. Fans of the show assumed that the actor's attachment to his character's statue might be because Jon Snow actually died in the series finale.
Fans also theorized that, aside from the presence of the likeness in the tomb, there is really no other end for Jon Snow except death. Speculations reveal that The Night King and his white army will definitely come after him.
The King in the North will try to win against this powerful enemy but the white army will be too many and will overpower nearly half of Westeros. Many believe that Jon Snow will die a hero in "Game of Thrones" season 8. He will fulfill his destiny to save his people but he'll pay for it with his life.
After all, Jon Snow was supposed to have died after "Game of Thrones" season 5. However, he was resurrected through the power of the red sorceress Melisandre in season 6. This time, the forces of the dead will be too great even for the Red Priestess' spell in "Game of Thrones" season 8.
Meanwhile, Harington believes that the series finale of "Game of Thrones" will change TV yet again. He's looking forward to the fans watching the final episodes because he believes that the series has broken ground again with what they did in the final season.
HBO announced that "Game of Thrones" season 8 will premiere on Sunday, April 14. The network's executives described the final offerings as six episodes that will each have the feel and quality of epic movies.
