There are theories Matt Smith will be playing as one of Knights of Ren. According to MovieWeb, there are hearsays the mysterious order of elite warriors will have a big part in "Star Wars: Episode 9."
The alleged sources from the Pinewood set revealed the Knights of Ren would be back in "Star Wars: Episode 9" along with Matt Smith. The news comes after the 11th Doctor in "Doctor Who" was seen wearing a pair of dark robes and holding a Lightsaber while in production.
There are also earlier reports that said Matt Smith would be playing a younger version of Emperor Palpatine in "Star Wars: Episode 9." Aside from those two roles, there are also rumors he will be playing the role of General Hux's second-in-command.
On the contrary, there are reports Hux will never have a major part in "Star Wars: Episode 9." His power is also allegedly diminished, and he won't be a part of the film's second half. But fans should only take these assumptions with a grain of salt as neither Lucasfilm nor Disney has confirmed the truth about it.
The Variety broke the news that Matt Smith would join "Star Wars: Episode 9" in August 2018. "The Crown" star, who played the role of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was reportedly playing a key role in the movie franchise.
"Star Wars: Episode 9" is currently in production, and "The Force Awakens" director JJ Abrams is back to direct the third and last installment to the sequel trilogy. The filming is set at London's Pinewood Studios.
