Amid the success of the newest KPOP solo track entitled "Promise," the man behind the song, Jimin, is now in the limelight once again to share a part of his heart to his fans.
The sensational Kpop artist, opened up through a live interview, January 20.
He began by showing his gratitude towards his fans regarding the success of his recent single. The artist said, "Thank you all for listening to [the song] so many times." "Thank you for liking it. Thank you," he added.
After sincerely thanking his fans, he then started to share the story behind the song's birth.
Jimin shared, "I started working on 'Promise' a long time ago." According to SOOMPI, the song required the singer a lot of time and effort to finish. In fact, he started working on it since about "six or seven months ago".
Through his confession, he also revealed that though the song is presently giving inspiration to a lot of people, "Promise" isn't really written for such purpose. With the experiences he had during that time, the song is originally intended "to be a dark song".
The rising pop artist also shared how complex it is for him to finish the song at first. His mind has been full of ideas that time that he wasn't able to express everything into words anymore. He said, "So I went around in circles for about three or four months, unable to figure out how to approach the song."
Jimin also shared how music became his outlet to relieve his stress and to let go of his emotions. He opened up how he usually get bombard with his thoughts that he became emotionally and psychologically affected with it.
The Korean star added it was Namjoon [RM's given name], who influenced him to be free from stress by making music. "We talked for a long time about that, and it made me want to compose my own song to overcome those [feelings]", he shared. With that, he decided to pursue writing his songs.
Though the story behind "Promise" was dark at first, eventually, with the help of his friends, fans, and families, Jimin's perspective in life became filled with light and happiness. That was when he got inspired to rewrite the song that reflects his new aura.
Jimin ended his revelation by saying, "I hoped that lots of people would hear the song and that it would comfort them as well." The singer added, "That's how the song 'Promise' came into existence."
