Lucasfilm is taking great measures in protecting "Star Wars: Episode 9" from leaking and spoiling. It has been the known that the series is bound to secrecy, but the newcomer Richard E. Grant revealed it is beyond keeping the movie details a secret.
Speaking on "The One Show," Richard E. Grant revealed how Disney maintains to keep "Star Wars: Episode 9" details in secrecy. "It's extraordinary," he said, per Digital Spy.
Richard E. Grant described Disney does not give them their "Star Wars: Episode 9" script as they have to go to a heavily-guarded room. It has bodyguards, closed-circuit television cameras, and the script is printed on crimson paper, so they can't take a photo of it. The actors have to read it inside the room and leave it there when they are done.
This method makes "Star Wars: Episode 9" rehearsals quite difficult for actors, but Disney finds a way to make it easier. Richard E. Grant continued to say the studio would give them the needed script on the day they work, and they have to sign in and sign out for them. There are also security guards on set to ensure there would be no leakage happening.
Aside from script leakage, Disney also sees the new technology as a problem. The previous films have encountered cameras with zoom lenses, now "Star Wars: Episode 9 faces the wide use of drone cameras.
So to also protect revealing "Star Wars: Episode 9" scenes and characters, Disney also has protocols to fight drone cameras. Richard E. Grant disclosed they wear cloaks over their heads as there are drones going over Pinewood Studios, trying taking photographs of what characters the stars are playing.
Disney has yet to reveal Richard E. Grant's character in "Star Wars: Episode 9," but there are hearsays he may be playing the role of Grand Admiral Thrawn. According to Comic Book, the male Chiss was first introduced in the 1991 novel "Heir to the Empire" and appeared on "Star Wars Rebels."
However, Richard E. Grant denied the rumors and explained that he is not allowed to reveal anything about "Star Wars: Episode 9 as he would get fired. "It's a complete lockdown on any information whatsoever," he said.
In a separate interview with The Telegraph, Richard E. Grant recalled the time when he auditioned for "Star Wars: Episode 9." At the time, J.J. Abrams directly asked him if he would take the character or not. When the director described the role and told him the name of who he would play, he revealed the room "went upside down."
Richard E. Grant's role remains to be a big mystery. So, fans still have to wait for Disney's official announcement on the actor's character and other "Star Wars: Episode 9" details.
