Almost half of all the life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe vanished after Thanos snapped his fingers at the end of "Avengers: Infinity War," including Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). Now, theory suggests the original team needs to make an ultimate sacrifice to bring back everyone.
A fan theory on Reddit said those who vanished in Avengers: Infinity War will eventually return in Avengers: Endgame - but with a huge and tremendous cost. The fan theorist suggests that the new Avengers will only be back if the original Avengers - such as Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man - will sacrifice their own lives so that everyone will return.
The theory noted that the core Avengers could bring back the vanished characters, but they have to link up the force of the Infinity Stones which is similar in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 when they use the power stone. And in return, the stones would likely consume the surviving characters, and it would restore order to the world. But, Captain Marvel would not be in the link since her MCU career is just starting, as well as Ant-man.
Also, the fan theorist said this might also be possible closure to the old Marvel movies, and would leave up to the new Avengers to take their place. The future series will reportedly focus on new characters including Black Panther, as well as Captain Marvel.
It was also speculated that some of the original Avengers would die at some point in the Endgame for different reasons. For instance, the original characters could somehow reverse the tragic events of Infinity War without making any sacrifices.
Another speculation is that the impending death of the original team is due to the expiring contract of some actors once the Endgame ended. Chris Evans already hinted that it's the end of the road some of the Avenger characters.
"The contract is done. A lot of our contracts are through. Myself, Downey, Hemsworth, we all kind of started roughly at the same time, and I think we all, through Avengers 4, kind of wrap it up," Evans said.
Avengers: Endgame will hit the theater on April 26, 2019. Other Marvel films that will also hit the theater this year include Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th, and include Captain Marvel on March 8th.
