It has been almost a year and a half since the last season Stranger Things premiered, but star Natalia Dyer teases fans that the third season of the Netflix series will be "bigger, darker, scarier" than ever before and it will be "worth it".

In an interview with MTV News, Dyer said with a laugh that the third season was in the '80s and was set during summer. The 22-year-old actress said that season three does feel bigger, darker, and scarier. Executive producer Shawn Levy also said before that the third season will be "darker and unquestionably more action-packed" than the preceding seasons.

When Dyer was asked if she revealed what will happen on season 3 to her friends and family, she answered a lot of them haven't even seen the series.

Star David Harbour previously teased vague details of the upcoming season, saying it was inspired by "epic" movies of 1985. He said they're experimenting a lot on the new season, but they were taking risks but hoping everything would pay off. He added they're going into new territories they've never been before.

On New Year's Day, Netflix announced Stranger Things Season 3 will be released on July 4, 2019, accompanied by a Fourth of July-themed first poster. The principal photography of the third season reportedly wrapped up last November.

In July 2018, Netflix VP of Original Content Cindy Holland said that although the third season has been delayed, the "handcrafted show" will be "worth the wait."

"They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year," Holland said. He added the cast members really want to take their time to get it right.

Last year, Levy also said Season 3 is by far the "most ambitious season ever made" which will take the show to a different level as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Max (Sadie Sink), Will (Noah Schnapp), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and newcomer Robin (Maya Thurman-Hawke) will uncover a dark secret in Hawkins, Indiana.

Stranger Things Season 3 will be exclusively available on Netflix this coming July 4th.
