The upcoming movie "Birds Of Prey" released a short teaser, giving DC fans their first glimpse of who will be in the new Harley Quinn film. The clip doesn't provide much detail about the movie, but it shows what costumes will be featured in, as well as a quick glimpse of all major characters.
Here are the characters showed in the Birds Of Prey teaser, as per CBR.com.
Harley Quinn
Of course, Margot Robbie will return as Harley Quinn, where she debuted in 2016's Suicide Squad. But, it seems like Harley had a few changes in Birds Of Prey, particularly her hair and costume. She's wearing a festive and colorful outfit which is more like a "night on the town, Harley-style" rather than the "superhero costume." At the beginning of the teaser, Harley was also holding a mallet - an instrument that she's yet to wield. Thus, it indicates she'll be using her signature weapon in the upcoming film.
Huntress
Helena Bertinelli, aka the Huntress, will be played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It looks like she will be the "most official" superhero in the movie as shown in the teaser. She's wearing a superhero-like costume - a cropped leather jacket and hood, along with her signature crossbow and other weapons.
Black Canary
Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be Dinah Lance or "Black Canary" in Birds Of Prey. It's hard to see her costume or if she's wearing her signature fishnet stockings, but the teaser shows she's sporting a netted dress. The also instances where she's singing in a microphone, indicating her character will be inspired by a mix of the recent DC You version - and indie rock star and the Bombshells Black Canary who's an old-time cabaret-style singer.
Cassandra Cain
Ella Jay Basco is Cassandra Cain in the upcoming movie. Her character is a highly-trained fighter in the comics, who eventually takes up Batgirl's mantle. But given her younger age in the film, that might not happen yet. The teaser shows Cassandra is a street-tough kid, wearing a cast on her arm covered in insults and profanities. Thus, the character has a bad spot and doesn't have a lot of friends.
Renee Montoya
Renee Montoya is a Gotham City police detective, who has the highest profile character in the comics. The character will be played by Rosie Perez, though it's unclear if she's a friend, enemy, or frienemy in Birds Of Prey movie.
Mr. Zsasz
Chris Messina is Victor Zsasz in the movie, a terrifying serial killer and occasionally hired assassin. He covers his body with tally marks - one for each victim he claims. His character on the teaser shows a few scars on his face, although the extent of his kill counts until he removes his jacket.
Black Mask
Gotham crime lord Roman Sionis, better known as Black Mask, will be played by Ewan McGregor. The character in the movie doesn't look like similar to his character in the comic - someone wearing an ebony skull mask. In Birds Of Prey movie, McGregor is like a traditional, eccentric criminal, but that doesn't mean his terrifying character from comics isn't similar to the film.
Birds Of Prey is reportedly scheduled to be released on February 7, 2020.
