The final episodes of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" season 4 has been out on Netflix since Jan. 25. But while the show has officially said goodbye and won't get a fifth season, its co-creators are not discounting the possibility that there could be a movie in the works.

Speaking with Deadline, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock said that there might be more stories to tell from the characters of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." They said that they even though they wrote specific endings for the characters in season 4, it might still be fun to revisit them one day as a movie, if a deal with Netflix works out.

Netflix isn't new to the concept of giving shows its movie treatment for one last offering if there's a high demand for it. The streaming platform did this for "Sense8" last June 2018, a year after its cancellation. Fans demanded the movie because "Sense8" left out plenty of cliffhangers before Netflix decided not to renew the series. The movie was meant to give the fans the closure it deserved.

To be clear, however, Netflix didn't cancel "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" abruptly. It was not canceled because it wasn't performing well on the platform. Fey and Carlock, as well as the show's stars and crew, agreed that it was time to end the show after 50 episodes.

So, when the fourth season was ready to launch on the platform, production decided to release the episodes in two parts. Carlock said that essentially, everyone didn't want to rush and overstuff the stories of the final season so they were able to give the show a proper send-off.

Meanwhile, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" star Ellie Kemper told Parade that although they knew the show was ending ahead of time, it's still pretty tough to say goodbye to her character. Still, she feels grateful to have become a part of a series that centers on an upbeat person who always has her glass half full.  Kemper believes that though "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is only four seasons-long, it has made the world a nicer place because of its positive message.

The comedy series had an unusual but still realistic concept. It's a story about four women, including Kimmy, who were trapped for 15 years in a bunker because a madman convinced them that the word was ending. Despite her harrowing experience, however, Kimmy never saw herself as a victim and learned to adjust to a world she thought was gone.

"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" seasons 1 to 4 are streaming on Netflix. Aside from Kemper, the show also stars Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane, Jane Krakowski, Lauren Adams, Sara Chase, Sol Miranda and Jon Hamm.
