Marvel has big plans for the character Wolverine on screen. Rumors say that the studio wants to develop a live-action TV show featuring this X-Men hero for the streaming platform Disney+. However, Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine for 17 years, will not be a part of it.

Sources told We Got This Covered about Marvel's plans for the well-loved mutant. Recasting Wolverine has been talked about for years since Jackman last played the character in the 2017 movie "Logan."

Details about the Wolverine TV series project are still not completely set in stone. Marvel's parent company, Disney, has yet to finalize its buyout deal with FOX, which currently owns the film and TV rights to the X-Men franchise, including Wolverine.

In 2015, Jackman actually revealed his pick to succeed him as Wolverine. He told MTV News that Tom Hardy would be ideal for the role. But the actor has since done "Venom" for Sony and he's also going to be tied to the sequel in the next few years. It's safe to say that Jackman's recommendation might likely not workout with Marvel and Disney+ if the Wolverine TV show gets underway.

But Jackman's friend, "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds, is still pushing for him to wear his Wolverine costume again. In fact, Wolverine has been constantly mentioned in "Deadpool 2" and Reynolds has been egging on Jackman on social media. Apparently, Reynold's superhero character has an ax to grind with the X-Men character.

Meanwhile, there have also been rumors that Wolverine might actually be featured in the upcoming "Avengers: Endgame," the final movie in the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The talks came from the oversight in a Google listing of the actor's film credits. Apparently, when you type "famous Hugh Jackman movies" on the search engine, "Avengers: Endgame" would pop up. But Google has already changed this mistake after fans pointed it out.

Still, with the final "Avengers" film slated to be in theaters this April, fans are anticipating that they will see Wolverine in it. Fans strongly believe in this because before Jackman retired as Wolverine, he reportedly said that he'll be willing to play the character if Wolverine needs to appear in the MCU.

Jackman assumed the role of Wolverine for the first time in the 2000 movie "X-Men." He played Wolverine in six more "X-Men" movies and also did a standalone film "The Wolverine" in 2013 apart from "Logan."
