"The Good Fight" season 3 almost had an encounter between Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) and Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski). Co-creator Robert King revealed that they considered bringing the character from the "The Good Wife" back, albeit only for a brief time.
King told the press during the recent Television Critics Tour that they had thought of a possible scenario where Diane and Alicia would face each other again. It would have to be at a rally or a resistance, where Diane and Alicia would lock eyes. However, the meeting would be anti-climactic since King said it was all that's going to happen.
Fans may recall that Alicia and Diane's final encounter in the series finale of "The Good Wife" three years ago left a lasting impact. Alicia slapped Dianne on the face because the latter betrayed her.
In the end, the showrunner decided to drop the plan to have the two women meet again since it's just going to be an asterisk in the whole story of "The Good Fight" season 3. The new season is set to return on the CBS All Access streaming platform beginning Friday, March 1.
"The Good Fight" season 3, however, will introduce a new guy whom fans would likely love to hate. Actor Michael Sheen will play Roland Blum, whom King described as the "Satan" within the firm.
Fans of the series should also expect a first on "The Good Fight" season 3 as they will have a musical episode. Apparently, King was opposed to this idea since he thinks it's a TV gimmick. But the cast is full of talented theater stars and, since they are filming in New York, finding Broadway actors was going to be easy.
Sheen will have a Jackson 5 number in the third episode of "The Good Fight" season 3. Baranski and co-star Audra McDonald (Liz Lawrence) will sing Prince's "Raspberry Beret."
King, however, said that the episode won't be a full-on musical. Instead, the music will be incorporated into the episode in a natural and most normal way. The showrunner also said that "The Good Fight" season 3 will seem different to viewers because the characters will be speaking out what's in their heads.
Meanwhile, the writers of the series have come up with a back-up plan in case something significant happens in politics in real-life, such as if President Donald Trump is impeached while the show is currently airing. The show has always been a few steps ahead of what happens in real life.
