The OA Season 2 is happening, nearly three years since its first installment's finale episode aired. Netflix announced the series' renewal in February 2017. However, no official details about the imminent second installment are announced up to this writing, pushing some fans to create predictions and theories about the show.
Just like other renewed series, The OA Season 2 is expected to pick up where the first installment left off. It can be recalled that Season 1 ended with Prairie Johnson (Brit Marling) was transported into another dimension after a stray bullet hit her.
In The OA Season 2 trailer, fans heard Prairie mentioned the word "Homer" repeatedly. Because of this, speculations suggested that the imminent second installment of the hit Netflix series will feature Prairie tracking down Homer Roberts (Emory Cohen).
Marling revealed, in August 2018, that the cast and crew have started filming for The OA Season 2. The 36-year-old American actress-screenwriter even shared a photo of her on Instagram and detailed a long day of post-production.
"Long ass days in the edit on Part II of @the_oa. We've locked 2 chapters but still have a long way to go," The OA Season 2 actress wrote. "This is me coming back to the edit bay yesterday for round 2 as the sun is going down. I wanted to get back to work. Zal wanted to take photos," she went on.
Marling previously revealed that filming for the second installment of the American mystery drama web television series with science fiction, supernatural and fantasy elements kicked off in January 2018. The OA Season 2, according to reports, wrapped shooting in May 2018 and it made some to predict that it would be released in December last year - which did not happen.
Aside from Marling and Cohen, other personalities expected to return in The OA Season 2 include Jason Isaacs, Patrick Gibson, Phyllis Smith, Scott Wilson, Ian Alexander, Brendan Meyer, Alice Krige, Brandon Perea, Will Brill, Paz Vega, Robert Eli, Marcus Choi, and Chloe Levine among others. No details about the second installment's episode count have been confirmed up to this writing.
DigitalSpy predicted that the forthcoming new installment is likely to return in late 2018 or early 2019. However, Netflix has not yet confirmed the second season's official premiere date as of yet.
