Chris Pratt is flattered that a lot of fans think of him as the fitting replacement for Harrison Ford as the new Indiana Jones. But the actor is setting the record straight on why he thinks there are rumors he's going to star in the planned 2021 "Indiana Jones 5" movie.

The actor, who's also famous for the blockbuster film "Jurassic World," explained to RTE Entertainment that his latest flick, "The Lego Movie 2," might have added more fire to the rumors he's going to play the famous archeologist and adventurer. One of the teasers from "The Lego Movie 2" shows his character, Rex, as someone similar to Indiana Jones.

But that truth was, "The Lego Movie 2" writers Chris Miller and Phil Lord deliberately suggested he could be Indiana Jones because it's one of the stories that have hounded the actor's career. Pratt told the writers they could dig materials for Rex from his life however they want and that's apparently what they plucked -- the Indiana Jones comparisons.

Pratt, however, also said that he doesn't have any ideas about the development or production of the new installment of the long-running franchise from Steven Spielberg. As of press time, the studio has still not announced who's going to star in "Indiana Jones 5, " aside from Ford, who will actually reprise his role.  When the 76-year-old actor learned about the rumors regarding a potential replacement for him, Ford was quick to shut it down by simply saying, "It's him or me."

Last March 2018, Speilberg revealed that "Indiana Jones 5" will start filming in the United Kingdom in April 2019. A few months after his announcement, however, Variety confirmed that the movie will be delayed since most of the members of the creative team are still tied to other commitments.

"Indiana Jones 5" will apparently pick up after the fourth installment, "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." It won't be a reboot or a sequel, as rumors have also speculated. Spielberg also confirmed that Ford will not be killed off in the fifth movie, which might be an allusion to the actor's character's fate on the "Star Wars" franchise.

Speilberg, however, also implied that while this might be Ford's last participation on "Indiana Jones," there's a good chance the franchise could continue with more stories. The director teased that it's possible the next Indiana Jones might even be a woman.
