Just a few months after the departure of AMC's The Walking Dead main cast Andrew Lincoln, who portrays the character of the brave leader amid zombie-apocalyptic world Rick Grimes, another leading character is reported will be saying goodbye to the program.
The American actress and playwrite Danai Jekesai Gurira, who plays the role of Michonne, the love interest of Grimes, is allegedly will be leaving TWD after Season 10, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
"Gurira, who officially joined the series in season three as iconic katana-wielding badass Michonne, has signed a deal to return for her final season of the zombie drama. Under her new deal, Gurira will return in a limited capacity - described as only a handful of episodes - that will be interspersed throughout the season 10," according to a source.
Since the news of Gurira's planned departure has leaked the internet, critics can't help but say how this huge change will create a negative impact on the show's declining ratings. As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the departure of the lead characters of the story will surely be "another HUGE blow for the series".
As of yet, the management behind AMC has not made any comment regarding the report.
"She has been very vocal about saying that she loves the show. We love Danai; we love that character," AMC programming president David Madden shared. He added that though the feelings between them and Gurira are mutual, there are still other opportunities that are coming alongside the actress' way, which she needs to juggle before anything else first.
The Programming President further commend that they definitely would love Danai and her character to stay on the track. As long as she wants it to be, he added.
Meanwhile, the zombie-killer actress is currently doing well with her career as she recently receives awards from her movies "Black Panther" and "Avengers: Infinity War".
As a matter of fact, her movie "Black Panther" received the statue for "Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture" during the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Furthermore, the movie was also given the title as the first superhero movie nominated for "Best Pictures" during the Oscars awards.
The multi-awarded artist shared in an interview how she always thought that reaching success is like a journey, which involves several steps in order to reach the top. She also revealed that several times these steps won't come easy. With this reason, she always felt really blessed with what is happening in her career now.
