Netflix had ordered new episodes of "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3 in May 2018 after its previous season dropped in March of the same year. Now that months have passed and the show is expected to be out soon, fans are now wondering what would happen to the weird-but-funny couple Sheila (Drew Barrymore) and Joel (Timothy Olyphant).
In an interview with Den of Geek, the show's creator Victor Fresco talked about what would possibly happen in "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3. "We do. We don't in the sense of knowing where things are at in say, season five, but we know in season three where things are headed and what Mr. Ball Legs represents," he said. "We know that Paul, who Zachary Knighton plays, will be back and that he represents a threat to the Hammonds."
Paul and his wife, Marsha (Jee Young Han), were the mysterious couple that had been following the Hammonds in the previous season. In their return, they would be a big threat to the family in "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3. "It is a storyline that we will track into the third season," Fresco also told TV Guide.
Fresco continued to say Paul was a part of the Knights of Serbia, the group of trained assassins that stopped the first zombie outbreak 500 years ago. He arrived in Santa Clarita to fulfill a sacred duty with the help of his wife. Unfortunately, they would never be alone in hunting Sheila and other zombies as there would be a lot of their kind in "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3.
So from the looks of it, Sheila will be in danger in "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3 as these people will try to kill her, believing she is a zombie. Aside from these assassins, the Hammonds will also have to face a new investigation.
According to TV Season Spoilers, the "NCIS: New Orleans" star Shalita Grant will join "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3 as an FBI agent named Tess Rogers. She will be the one to investigate the explosion at the Santa Clarita fracking site where the red clams that turned people into zombies were located.
Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant will surely return in "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3, along with their on-screen daughter Liv Hewson as Abby and her partner-in-crime Skyler Gisondo as Eric. Fans will also see the talking head of Nathan Fillion as Gary West.
Netflix has yet to announce the official release date of "Santa Clarita Diet" Season 3, but it is expected to be out anytime soon. There are theories that it will be out in April after the first season debuted in February 2017 while the second season was released in March 2018.
