The second season of "Jack Ryan" isn't going to be in Russia as a lot of viewers have speculated. Most of the action on the upcoming installment of the Amazon Studios series will take place in South America, where there's a brewing decline of democracy.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-creators Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland confirmed that Jack Ryan season 2 will tackle South American politics. Although the character Jack Ryan (played by John Krasinski) did get a call from his boss Jim Greer (played by Wendell Pierce) at the end of season 1, who told him that he's booking Jack on a flight to Moscow, Russia wasn't going to be part of the major plot of season 2.

The first episode back in Jack Ryan season 2 will explain how Jack and Jim are going to "sync back up," as Roland said. The producers said that the second season would be "its narrative."

Jack Ryan was always meant to be an on-going but stand-alone show. This means that you can watch season 2 without having any knowledge of what happened to the show in season 1. Every Jack Ryan installment was designed to be a like a stand-alone movie, except that it's divided into eight episodes.

Roland said from the very start that the Jack Ryan series would be very much like reading a Tom Clancy novel. "You can go to an airport bookstore and grab a Tom Clancy Jack Ryan book and never have read the previous one, and still enjoy it," the producer said.

Meanwhile, during the Critics' Choice Awards, producer Andrew Form spoke with Variety to confirm that Jack Ryan Season 2 recently wrapped up filming. Last October, Krasinski and the cast were spotted in the streets of London during the middle of production, as per Digital Spy. The cast and crew were also on location in Colombia, New York City, and Washington DC.

The series is currently on its post-production so give or take six more months, Amazon Prime subscribers might likely get to watch the second season on the platform by Fall 2019. Aside from Krasinski and Pierce, also returning for Jack Ryan Season 2 are Abbie Cornish (Cathy Mueller) and John Hoogenakker (Matice). New additions joining the cast include Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Noomi Rapace (Close) and Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones).
