Survivor: Edge Of Extinction which is the season 38 of the franchise will be released later this month, with new and returning players. But, the biggest revelation this season is the new twist to the Survivor rules.

You might be familiar with some of the cast members of the upcoming Survivor: Edge Of Extinction, that's because famous players who joined the previous seasons will be joining the popular reality show once again, Otakukart reported.

Some of the returning players for season 38 include: Kelley Wentworth (Seasons 29: San Juan del Sur and 31: Cambodia), David Wright (Season 33: Millennials vs. Gen X), Joe Anglim (Season 30: Worlds Apart and 31: Cambodia), and Aubry Bracco (Season 32: Kaoh Rong and 34: Game Changers).

For this season, 18 castaways will compete to outwit, outplay, and outlast each other to win the grand prize. They will be divided into two teams, with nine players each. The named of tribes will be Kama and Manu, each of the team will have seven new players with two returning Survivor veterans.

The Kama tribe will include Joe Anglim and Aubry Bracco alongside seven new players, while Manu tribe will have Kelley Wentworth and David Wright as well as other new members.

Some of the newbies that joined Survivor: Edge Of Extinction include a 25-year-old small business owner from Bell, California; 19-year-old pre-med student from North Carolina; a 33-year-old news anchor from Macon, Georgia; and a 38-year-old law student from Los Angeles. All of them have the chance to be team up with the famous returning players.

The biggest revelation for season 38 is the newest twist to the Survivor rules. Aside from being tested under extreme conditions in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, there will be an Extinction Island for players who were voted out of the game. Basically, they will be given two options once voted out - they can continue their journey on that island or give up and leave, said producer and Survivor host Jeff Probst in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The Extinction Island is reportedly a barren wasteland and couldn't provide anything for inhabitants. The island's beach has a few scattered remnants of a shipwreck with a sign that says, "Welcome to the Edge of Extinction." Players who chose to continue their journey will stay on this island until they get the chance to return to the game. But, if they couldn't bear the hardships on Extinction Island, they can fire a white flare as a signal of withdrawal from the game.

Another revelation is that no one will know the second chance and the Extinction Island unless they've been voted out. Thus, remaining castaways will be set up to believe that when someone's been voted out of the game, their journey is over.

Survivor: Edge Of Extinction will premiere this coming February 20.
