It has been confirmed there will be Insatiable season 2, but further details about it were not yet revealed. Yet, viewers have been speculating about its possible release date, the new and returning cast, as well as the plot of the next season.
The first season of Insatiable becomes one of the most controversial series of 2018. The backlash had started when the trailer was released back in July 2018, as many believed the program inappropriately depicts weight loss and body-shaming. A petition was also submitted on Change.org with more than 230,000 signatures, asking to cancel the show, Otakukart reported.
Still, Netflix released the season 1 and then confirmed it was renewed for a second season. Insatiable follows the story of Patty Bladell (Debby Ryan); she was bullied because of her weight. She sets out to get revenge on her enemies when she loses her weight. Then, Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts) - disgraced attorney and beauty pageant coach - has decided to take her on as his client.
Insatiable season 2 will be released this 2019, although the exact date has yet to be revealed. But, season 1 premiered on August 10, 2018, so it's very likely the second season will air around that time as well. Some rumors also suggest that the upcoming season will be out in July 2019, but it's still purely speculations.
Both Ryan and Roberts will surely be back on the next season, and other cast members expected to return in Insatiable season 2 include Christopher Gorham (Bob Barnard), Alyssa Milano (Coral Huggens Armstrong), Kimmy Shields (Nonnie Thompson), and Sarah Colonna (Angie Bladell).
The plot of the second season was still unknown, but Ryan revealed in an interview with E! News that she wanted to see her character moving forward, like seeking professional help for some of her problems. Netflix might not also adjust the script of season 2 despite the backlash since it wouldn't renew it in the first place if they were bothered by it.
Meanwhile, the season 1 finale shows Patty killed her ex-boyfriend Christian because he kidnapped Magnolia - her beauty pageant competition. So, Patty called Bob to help her cover up the murder, they put Christian's car at the bottom of a lake but didn't sink as much as it needs to. But, Patty also told Bob she killed Stella Rose. Thus, it's safe to say Insatiable season 2 would likely deal with the fallout of the Season 1 finale.
