Chicago Med is not going away after season 4 on NBC. The network recently announced that the show has been renewed and will return in the fall for more stories for Chicago Med season 5.
The doctor drama with an ensemble cast is likely going to retain its Wednesday night slot along with two other Chicago series -- Chicago Fire and Chicago PD-- from Dick Wolf Productions. Variety confirmed the renewal of Chicago Med season 5 in a press release from NBC.
"The Chicago franchise is a lynchpin of our schedule," NBC, through executives Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, stated. "We're thrilled that audiences have embraced our Wednesdays with such incredible passion for these shows and characters."
In the meantime, there are still some nine episodes of Chicago Med season 4 left to air, including this week's installment, titled Old Flame, New Sparks. The new episode, which comes on at 8:00 p.m. on NBC, will feature Natalie (played by Torrey DeVitto) and Will (played by Nick Gehlfuss) growing more apart from each other.
While nursing his broken heart, Will gets some one-on-one and heart-to-heart with his brother Jay (played by Jesse Lee Soffer) in Chicago Med season 4 episode 16. According to Entertainment Tonight, Jay would finally suggest to Will to find his place.
In the last few weeks, Will has been crashing on Jay's pad after leaving the house he used to share with Natalie. Jay will be upfront with his brother and ask Will if he's still hoping to get back together with his ex.
But Chicago Med season 4 episode 16 isn't just going to be about Will's break up with Natalie. Photos from the set reveal that Robin (played by Mekia Cox) and Vicki (played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson) are going to be featured in this episode as well. Viewers have not been able to see much of these two characters, but the previews and teasers show that they will finally have their screen time in this episode.
Meanwhile, Rhodes (played by Colin Donnell) and Bekker (played by Norma Kuhling) will also be dealing with their issues, apart from Rhodes helping Robin with her mother's condition on Chicago Med season 4 episode 16. Suffice to say; this will be a tough week for Rhodes to be dealing with his ex and Bekker at the same time.
Chicago Med airs Wednesday nights at 8:00 on NBC.
