Ed Sheeran married his long-time love Cherry Seaborn just before Christmas last year. Reports said that the couple exchanged "I do's" with only 40 guests as witnesses at the singer's hometown in the Suffolk countryside in England.

Only close friends and family members were invited to the secret wedding, according to The SunThe ceremony was held at a Wingfield church, and then the wedding party moved to a local pub for the reception.

A source claimed that it was the wedding Sheeran and Seaborn wanted -- tiny and no fuss or fanfare. The couple also didn't want to make a big deal out of their wedding to avoid intrusions from the press, which would only bring problems and stress.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in August 2018, Sheeran said that he likes the simplicity and the good vibes of smaller wedding ceremonies. But the newly-weds reportedly still plan to hold a bigger feast for their celebrity friends at a later date.

As per Daily Mail, there's already a list of guests to the upcoming wedding festivities between the Shape of You singer and his soulmate. Names like Elton John, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Princess Eugenie have been thrown on the list, but the source also told the press that an invite had been extended to the singer's best friend, Taylor Swift.

The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker asked for Seaborn's hand in marriage last December 2017 and the couple shared the happy news at a much later date on social media. Hence, it was not surprising for Sheeran to hold a very private wedding especially since his relationship with Seaborn has been pretty much grounded and low key all this time.

Sheeran and Seaborn have known each other since they were 11 years old. However, they reconnected sometime after the singer has had much success in the music industry and Seaborn was already working in New York.

At that time, Sheeran was hobnobbing with the likes of Swift and other big names in the business. At one point, while celebrating a Fourth of July party at Swift's place in the city, Sheeran asked Seaborn to join them, and that's when he realized he wanted to be with her for life.

Since announcing their engagement last year, Sheeran and Seaborn have been wearing identical commitment rings that led fans to think they have been married before. It might just as well be what Sheeran wants the public to think. "[The ring] means that nobody will ever know when we got married," Sheeran told a radio show back then.
