Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are considered as two of the most successful South Korean personalities of all time. Their effective portrayal as Captain Yoo Shi Jin and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon, respectively, have helped them amassed a massive following, which also contributed to the undeniable success of Descendants of the Sun.
What made things more interesting was the fact that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's on-screen romance turned into a real-life fairytale. Initially, the couple did not want to publicize the real score while they were still filming the Descendants of the Sun series. However, due to the endless speculations about their relationship, the Song-Song couple was forced to, finally, admit their relationship to the public.
On Oct. 31, 2017, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo tied the knot in a lavish but intimate wedding in Shilla Hotel, Seoul City, South Korea. Named as the wedding of the decade, the Descendants of the Sun stars only invited their family and close friends in the industry including Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Ji Won, Zhang Ziyi, Park Hyung Sik, Jungo of 2PM and Donghae of Super Junior.
Park Bo Gum, who is a very pal of Song Joong Ki, played the piano while Ock Joo Hyun sang a few songs for Song Hye Kyo and her husband. Lee Kwang Soo and Yoo Ah In, on the other hand, read letters during the wedding ceremony.
A few days after the ceremony, Song Hye Kyo expressed her gratitude to all the people who attended her wedding with Song Joong Ki. The Descendants of the Sun actress also thanked fans for their "sincere understanding" and for blessing them with "loving hearts."
However, recent reports suggested that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have already split. Divorce rumors sparked after the Encounter star was spotted wearing no wedding ring at the airport on Feb. 20. Aside from the missing ring band, Chinese media outlet Sina also claimed that the actress deleted several photos of her along with her better half on Instagram and suggested that "there seems to be trouble in their relationship."
Avid followers of the couple were quick to debunk the reports and claim that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are still happy together. Even the talent agencies of the couple were stunned by the rumors. Neither of the Descendants of the Sun stars even cared to react to the malicious accusations.
