Martin said about the forthcoming sixth A Song of Ice and Fire book. "So it's very, very challenging. Fire and Blood by contrast was very simple. Not that it's easy - it still took me years to put together - but it is easier," he went on.

Martin could drop the up-and-coming new book any time soon after he, reportedly, refused to do a cameo appearance in the finale episode of Game of Thrones Season 8.

The Nightflyers writer revealed that Game of Thrones showrunners David Weiss and David Benioff asked him to have a guest appearance in one of the last few episodes. While he was tempted to grab the opportunity, Martin said he could take the time to travel back to Belfast, where he is allegedly writing the remaining chapters of TWOW.
