Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson is all set to debut later this month in Japan at ONE Championship: A New Era, a historical event since this will be the first time that the promotion will stage an event over there. The 12-time flyweight champion will take his act to Asia and will face Japanese mixed martial artist Yuya Wakamatsu.

Johnson's debut is expected to electrify Asian fans who have been looking for new faces in the mixed martial arts scene. And while getting that first win is pivotal for Mighty Mouse, it could be needed as well if he is serious about wanting to try his hands in boxing.

According to TMZ Sports, Johnson is open to the idea of possibly facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the boxing ring. If it materializes, Mighty Mouse would be the third mixed martial artist to step inside the squared circle against the undefeated pug.

So far, it is Conor McGregor who made a good account of himself when he faced Mayweather back in 2017. It was a 12-round boxing match that proved to be a hit despite heavy criticism. The big story there was the money both Mayweather and McGregor took home.

Mayweather reportedly took home over $300 million while the Irishman had over $100 million. With the popularity of both, it wasn't surprising they earned that much.

For Johnson, it will be interesting if he can generate the same amount of hype as well. He knows that the only way to get Mayweather to fight is if there is big money involved. He could make a case if he comes out with an impressive win in Japan later this month.

Johnson is aware that he lacks the boxing skills against Mayweather. All he can do is give the retired boxer a good fight, aware that he will be at a disadvantage against Floyd Jr. Regardless, he is open to the idea and want to see for himself and have some fun.

All that should crop up after his fight with Wakamatsu, someone he is not taking lightly.

"A fight is a fight. A lot of people, when I get into the ring or cage with them, the first thing they notice is my speed. I’m going to go out there, fight my butt off, use my heart, my technique, and my skill set, and go out there and take it to him,” said Johnson in a report from Manila Bulletin Sports.
