Sony has been reportedly offering refunds after Anthem allegedly caused PlayStation 4s to shut down.
A number of Reddit users aired their grievances as they complained about their consoles shutting down upon purchasing and installing Anthem. Their hope that the issue will be resolved was somehow fed when the Anthem patch 1.03 was released. However, the release did not prevent the game from literally shutting down the users' PlayStation 4s as well as their PCs and Xbox One.
Through a number of forums on Reddit, players explained how Anthem crashed their game console specifically the PlayStation 4. Some description said that their PS4 shut down as though they plugged it out from a power source. Upon turning their devices on once again, they were brought into the PS4 internal database repair and have to spend some time with the consecutive warnings and user agreements before getting their device to work normally.
A conversation thread also on Reddit became a platform for the disappointed gamers about how the Anthem launch turned out to be opposite as they expected that some of them even asked the other players to literally stop playing and asked Sony to give them a refund on their game purchase. Surprisingly, Reddit users on the thread testified that they managed to get a refund from BioWare, the Anthem creator without any resistance.
Reddit user SoundAndFury87 shared the process on how he easily managed to get a refund after being disappointed on Anthem shutting down his PS4. He said that Sony is aware of the issue and is offering a complete refund on the game purchase with no questions asked. He added that it only took him five minutes to get his money back. However, not all players were fortunate enough to get their money back as there were some reports about users who were refused to be given refunds.
As of this writing, there have been no reports about Sony's comment or even reaction to the Anthem shutting down the PlayStation 4. Players, however, are alleging that with the kind of response that they get from the company with regards to their refund request, Sony could be admitting that the error is actually on their part. Users are taking note that it is not normal for the said company to easily offer their customers a money back response with their reputation of being uptight in refunds.
Anthem is the latest from the BioWare's slate. It is a multiplayer-centric online game available for PC, Xbox One and Play Station 4.
