Chicago Fire season 7 will not have new episodes to air for March 6 and March 13. Replays of episode 8 and 10 will occupy the show's schedule in the next two weeks, so viewers will have to wait to find out if there's more to the personal struggles of Matthew Casey (played by Jesse Spencer).

According to the show's Twitter account, Chicago Fire season 7 episode 17 will air on March 27. NBC, however, has yet to officially announce the schedule but the social media confirmation may be as good as done.

The reason for the show's hiatus wasn't revealed but it's not unusual for Chicago Fire season 7 to take breaks in between runs because of production logistics. This break gives the writers, the crew and the cast a chance to prepare for the next round of filming.

Besides, NBC has already renewed Chicago Fire for the 2019-2020 season. The show is officially coming back for season 8 so its fate on the network has been sealed for one more year.

Meanwhile, fans have been wondering if there could be a potential reunion for Casey and Gabby Dawson (played by Monica Raymund) in future episodes. The curiosity sprung from a crucial moment in Chicago Fire season 7 episode 16, which aired last Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Casey admitted to Chief Boden (played by Eamonn Walker) that he's still having a hard time moving on from his divorce. During an emergency call, a gunman nearly killed him but the bullet missed and that encounter made him question where his life was headed without Dawson.

Casey broke down after telling Boden how he truly felt. It doesn't seem like he's over his ex-wife despite dating a new girl at the beginning of Chicago Fire season 7.

But there is likely no chance for Raymund to reprise Dawson in Chicago Fire any time soon. The actress has been cast in the new strip club drama series, Hightown, which will begin filming its very first season this March.

Raymund announced her plans to exit Chicago Fire after season 6. The writers, however, didn't kill her character and instead allowed Dawson to move to her new job in Puerto Rico so fans took this as a sign that the doors are still open for her return.

The actress did briefly make an appearance an earlier episode of Chicago Fire season 7. It was meant to give Casey and Dawson some closure. Since then, however, it was mentioned in passing in the series that they have divorced.
