Many fans are now excited about the upcoming release of The OA Season 2. The American mystery drama web television series with fantasy and supernatural elements has amassed a significant number of followings due to its thought-provoking storyline and characters. After the series was renewed in 2017, avid followers of the show wonder what could happen in the imminent next installment.

Created by Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling, the Netflix Original sci-fi drama centers on the story of Prairie Johnson who returns home after disappearing for seven years. Praire, who is an adopted young woman, calls herself as "The OA" since she resurfaced. The series protagonist lost her sense of sight when she got missing but everything went back to normal upon her return. Since Praire did not reveal where she has been in the previous installment, rumors are rife that she might give answers in The OA Season 2.

The official synopsis of The OA Season 2 stated that Prairie (Brit Marling) would explore a new dimension. There, she is not an ordinary adopted woman but a Russian heiress. The lead character would, then, meet a detective named Karim Washington and, together, they would solve find a missing teen named Michelle Vu.

"His path crosses with OA, as they try to solve the mystery of Michelle's whereabouts and a house on Nob Hill connected to the disappearance of several teenagers," the official synopsis of The OA Season 2 read. "Meanwhile, back in the first dimension, BBA, Angie and the boys find themselves on a journey to understand the truth behind OA's story and the incredible realities she described."

As for its cast, reports have it that most of the personalities who appeared in the first installment will be making a comeback in The OA Season 2, which include Homer (Emory Cohen), Steven Winchell (Patrick Gibson), Buck Vu (Ian Alexander), Dr. Hunter (Jason Isaacs), Rachel (Sharon Van Etten), Scott Brown (Will Brill), Alfonso "French" Sosa (Brandon Perea), Jesse (Brendan Meyer), and Betty Broderick-Allen (Phyliss Smith).

In 2018, Brit Marling assured fans that they are working hard for The OA Season 2. The 36-year-old American actress-screenwriter even shared that being the lead star and lead writer for the series is no easy. She also revealed that her team had to write a total of eight chapter before they kicked off the production for the next installment.

"Some people thought of Part I ofThe OA as a long film. If you look at it from that perspective [co-creator] Zal [Batmanglij] and I write and create an eight-hour film every two years," Marling shared. "That's pretty fast considering most two-hour films take at least two years to make!" the main star of The OA Season 2 added.
