The Captain Marvel movie is among the much-anticipated film this year and, indeed, it did not disappoint when it was released on Wednesday, March 6. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the first female-led Marvel film is currently doing very well in the box-office race. With the considerable amount of hype currently surrounding the film, fans are now wondering if Captain Marvel 2 would be possible.

For starters, Captain Marvel centered on the story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), also known as a Kree warrior named Vers, who was caught in the middle of a galactic war between two races of alien. Trained by Yon-Rogg (Jude Law), Vers thought that she was a Kree and her enemies are the green-skinned shapeshifters called Skrulls. While the film focused more on how Vers got her memories of having been on Earth back, the yet-to-be-confirmed Captain Marvel 2 is very likely to tackle her new identity as Miss Marvel.

In a talk with ComicBook, directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden shared a very few interesting details on what fans could expect in Captain Marvel 2. When asked if Captain Marvel's future could be her past, Boden stated that the said idea is "interesting" and revealed that the first Captain Marvel comic she read featured the protagonist traveling through the past and almost rewriting her origin story. This, according to the entertainment news outlet, offered some clues of where things could go in the upcoming sequel.

It added that Captain Marvel 2 might discontinue playing in the '90s or '00s era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is rumored that the sequel could also feature Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) in action as Photon, Pulsar or Spectrum. For starters, Maria was introduced as the best friend and co-pilot of Carol Danvers in the Captain Marvel movie. She, also, is the mother of Monica Rambeau (Akira Akbar), who is fated to become the second Captain Marvel.

Other speculations suggest that Captain Marvel 2 could also tackle the life of the Skrulls, led by Taros (Ben Mendelsohn). Too, the sequel is very likely to show the happenings after Vers sent Yon-Rogg back to the galaxy. Vers, who is also expected to debut as Miss Marvel in the second installment, will appear on the Avengers: Endgame movie.

There is no confirmed release date and storyline for the yet-to-be-finalized sequel as of yet. Hence, avid followers of the franchise should take these speculations and theories lightly until everything is proven true and correct.
